This train was due at Southampton between 17.37 and 17.40, but as I had come down on the Royal Wessex, (16.35 ex Waterloo), behind 35012, arriving at Southampton a minute late at 18.08, I have made the assumption the Newcastle train was indeed running late. Thanks to Don Benn and John Clifford for help on timings.

I have put this train down as the FO 17.23 ex Waterloo, but it could have been the 16.20 due from 17.54 to 17.58.
That day I had gone down on the Atlantic Coast Express to Exeter behind 35014, returned to Salisbury on the 14.30 Exeter-Waterloo with 34095. And then come over to Southampton on what I assume was a d.e.m.u.
